“Candy Chang’s art serves as a wake-up call in our fast-paced digital age. “Our shared spaces can better reflect what matters to us, as individuals and as a community, and with more ways to share our hopes, fears and stories, the people around us can not only help us make better places, they can help us lead better lives.” – Chandy
She has shown how powerful our public spaces can be if these spaces get a voice. After losing someone she loved, artist Candy Chang painted the side of an abandoned house in her neighborhood in New Orleans with chalkboard paint and stenciled the sentence, “Before I die I want to _____.”

“After many introspective walks around New York City, Chang created this street art project to encourage self-evaluation in transit by posing introspective questions on the pavements of the city with stencils and temporary spray chalk. ”

“Grief Is a Beast That Will Never Be Tamed is a public art project that offers a solution to how can our public spaces better address our relationship with grief, which is the most universal yet also most isolating of emotions.”
